FLORAL… FOR SPRING? GROUNDBREAKING.

Can you say, "HELLO SPRING!" I think it's safe to say that mother nature is having an extended hot flash in the most unexpected month, I mean it's still only march and the weather has been beautiful this week! Let's hope this lasts into the months of summer, fingers crossed. Considering the infamous title of my style diary, Messy Bun I figured it was about darn time you all get a taste of what I mean when I say people refer to me on most instances as the girl with the massive bun, some have even referred to it as the nucleus of the membrane and then proceed to squeeze it on most days. Yeah, I know… I hang around questionable folks. There you have it folks, I set it free, the bun, the central controls of who I am: bubbly, hard to contain, and just a plain ol' (hot) mess on most occurrences, I mean could you really want anything more?

The inspiration behind this quite simple ensemble came from the witty Meryl Streep from one of my favorite movies, The Devil Wears Prada, as she so perfectly reaffirms "florals… for spring? Groundbreaking." Genius, pure genius. Best line, hands down. I figured, what the heck, let's go with the season, throw on some neon floral print, and prove Miranda Priestly right. Personally, I think the expected is the perfect secret weapon for creating a gateway to the unexpected.

I was feeling very quirky, fun, and giddy as I got dressed and overall wanted to frolic around in the sun in a skirt made for twirling and boots made for walking. A little country meets urban pop! Cause there is always room for big hair and crooked sunnies. Can I get an Amen up in here?!

RETRO JUNGLE-FEVER

Hello there all my beauties! It was an absolutely gorgeous day out today in Northern Virginia… finally! I think it's about time we have sun, clear skies, and a cool breeze, no more of this winter bull! Not that we've really had much of a winter at all this year… but anyways, I think it's safe to say this weather has made this hump-day one worthy of endless smiles and giggles. I'll be honest I woke up not feeling too hot but a little gloomy so I decided to throw on brights on brights on brights and well, it made me feel so enlightened and blissful. Isn't that the craziest thing…? How much color and an outfit you love can just lift your spirits! The best days for me are when I can walk down the hallway at school and feel so confident (and tall) in my own shoes and just feel amazing with my life and who I am.

Not to go completely cheese-ball on you all, let's get to the topic that I know you all are wanting to know about… this tee! It hands down, is one of my favorite tops that I own just because it is so vibrant and the print is so avant-garde and retro, that it makes me smile! Not to mention it is super soft and light, I just slip it on, cuff the sleeves, and wa-la! Not too much else needed, I would personally like to thank the Treasure Trove for this perfect steal! My inner hippie came out today as all I wanted to surround myself with was the warmth of the sun and the beauty of nature! So, you all know what that means… throw on some booties and a floppy hat, and you have the perfect springtime, retro, jungle-explorer to be ensemble. So simple but yet creative enough to illuminate my soul with pep and my shoes with dirt.

CHAMBRAY CHIC

So sorry for the delay in posting any updates for the past week, I caught the flu bug that was been jumping around school lately and have been chained and shackled to my bed, being force-fed tylenol and green tea. It's been rough. Any who... after I returned home from the mall I decided to snap a few pics of my very casual saturday wear, where I picked up a great denim chambray button up. I'm not usually one to really be drawn to the cow-girl-esque kinda vibe but I'll admit I love the structured, heavy fit of the fabric and just how effortlessly it adds a fresh and californian-breath of fresh air instead of the typical cardigan layering. Plus, for some reason it reminds me of the typical summer day, feeling serene and carefree as the wind whips your hair around and the sun warms your face under oversized ray bans. Me gusta. Me gusta mucho.
